There are now 91 Sanctuary Localities in Virginia

After last night's local governing board meetings, there are now 91 localities that have passed resolutions declaring themselves 2A Sanctuary Localities, or in a couple of cases (Henrico County for example) that they will uphold the Constitutions of Virginia and the United States.  The gun ban lobby and Governor Northam have taken notice.  At Chesterfield's Board of Supervisors' meeting on Wednesday, there was a massive turnout of gun owners, both inside the Board meeting (the Public Meeting Room only holds about 290 people) and outside at a rally with an estimated crowd of between 2000 and 3000 people in front of the Old Courthouse building where State Senator Amanda Chase.  There was no resolution on the agenda but during their public comment period, they allowed 15 people to address the board on matters not on the agenda.  It was clear from the number of anti-rights speakers (about half of those signed up to speak) that the gun ban lobby has taken notice of the push back around the state.  There is a GOP majority on the Chesterfield Board and they should have included a resolution on the agenda.  For what ever reason, they have chosen not to at this time.  A new Board will take office in January and we will have another opportunity for a resolution to be considered.

You can find updated information about the list of localities that have passed resolutions on the VSSA web site.

Next week's board meetings include:

Monday December 16:
City of Roanoke - There is no resolution on the agenda but there is a "Hearing of Citizens" on the 2:PM part of the agenda which is a good time to again urge the city to pass a resolution.
