Special VSSA Membership Offer

Gun owners are under attack.  The most radical anti-gun agenda in U.S. history has started moving through Congress and in states across the country.  They will look to continue the assault right here in Virginia with all 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates and all 40 seats in the Virginia Senate up for grabs this November. But you can help stop it by joining VSSA.

Join or renew for three years between April 1 - and June 30th and receive this limited edition VSSA Knife. We aren't leaving out our life members either! Simply donate $60 or more to the VSSA Warchest  between April 1 and June 30th and you can receive the knife too!

We saw their agenda during the just completed 2019 General Assembly - a ban on private gun sales, and a sweeping ban on semi-automatic firearms, including hundreds of the most commonly owned rifles, shotguns and pistols in America. We need every Virginia gun owner to be a member of VSSA so that your voice is added to those that have already answered the call to fight for our rights.

VSSA has been successful in beating back the attacks so far because our legislative team has been at the General Assembly every day but now more than ever, with both the House of Delegates and the Virginia Senate holding a slim one vote pro-gun majority in each house, we need you. Join today and not only are you saving $15 over the course of your membership, but getting a great knife too!

Simply click here to join VSSA today or login to your member account on the website and renew. If you are a Life Member and would like to receive a knife, simply click here to donate $60 or more today.

VSSA Membership Processing Notice

VSSA's Executive Director, Lu Charette, will be out of the office beginning January 25 for a medical procedure.  Processing of VSSA membership renewals as well as new memberships may be slower than the usual same day processing during this time.  Lu will do his best to process materials as they arrive pending the recovery time required for the procedure.  We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Now is the Time to Join VSSA or Renew Your Membership

VSSA's sister organization, the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA), had something in their member email newsletter today that is appropriate for Virginia gun owners too - especially in an election year that will have a major impact on whether we can get good firearms legislation signed into law or continue to have it vetoed as Governor Terry McAuliffe has done the last four years.

A recent study by the Crime Prevention Research Center noted that there has been an increase in concealed carry licenses throughout the country.  ISRA noted:
...the anti-self-defense crowd is increasing their attacks on concealed carry and lawfully armed citizens. They are will funded, noisy and resolute in their mission. I would remind everyone that in 1917 the Bolsheviks only made up a small percentage of the Russian population but were able to bring down the government. We have too many gun owners and concealed carry permit holders who are sitting on their duff letting someone else carry the burden of protecting their rights. It is time for those folks to join or rejoin state and national gun rights organizations and start helping.
The email went on to suggest people join, or renew their membership to ISRA.  The same is true for people in Virginia to join or renew their VSSA membership.  As Virginia's only full service gun rights organization, VSSA has been protecting the rights of gun owners for almost 80 years.  And as the NRA state association affiliate, VSSA is actively promoting the shooting sports to the next generation to insure we have people to continue the fight when we are long gone.  If you are a member, please renew today.  If you are reading this and not a member, please join today.  VSSA will be working with NRA-ILA to reach out to Virginia gun owners to help elect a pro-gun Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General this year.  We need every Virginia gun owner to help make this a great election so we can continue to restore and expand our gun rights.

Thanks for Keeping Our Costs Low

Last week, the VSSA Executive Director shared this information with me and I intended to post it, but as is the case sometimes with bloggers who have a real job and a family, work and family responsibilities caused it to fall to the bottom of the stack. He sent me a "gentle" reminder late Wednesday afternoon, so here goes:
This marks the ninth year in a row that VSSA annual dues have not seen an increase! While postal rates have increased several times over the same period, and the cost of the renewal forms has also increased, there has been an overall savings to VSSA. This is due in large part to you, the members.

Not long ago, VSSA did a complete revamp of the association web site and began accepting new members and renewals online. As people now do everything from shopping, paying bills, and banking online, it only made sense to add this feature to the revamped web site. That feature has been a contributing factor to the savings. Online renewals save in repeat renewal notices, save in postage and save in time necessary to produce statements.

If you have not used this method for your membership renewal (and War Chest donations too), please take a moment to look at this simple and cost saving feature when it's time to renew your membership. You can access the renewal page at http://www.myvssa.org/renew.  You can visit the War Chest donation page at http://www.myvssa.org/content/vssa-war-chest.

VSSA's website update has been completed and is now live. Memberships can now be purchased online. Additional edits will be made as we work out bugs but this is the beginning of what will be an ongoing effort to increase the value of VSSA membership.
