Richmond City Council Passes Ordinance to Ban Firearms in City Buildings and Parks
Last night, Richmond City Council passed Mayor Levar Stoney's ordinance to ban firearms in city buildings and parks. The measure however will not go into effect unless the General Assembly repeals the state firearms preemption statute. Preemption means that localities cannot pass their own gun control, which would result in a patchwork of laws across the state. CBS 6 has the story:
