Legislative Update - Three Pro-Rights Firearm Bills Head to Full Senate

On Wednesday, Senate Courts of Justice reported three bills out of committee and they are now headed to the floor.

• HB 1656, School security officers; employment by private or religious schools; carrying a firearm in performance of duties, in Senate Courts of Justice, Reported 14 to 0!

• HB 2253, Nonresident concealed handgun permits; time of issuance, referred to Senate Courts of Justice, Reported 9 to 6! This was a party line vote. All this bill does is insure non-resident permit applications are processed in a reasonable time.

• HB 2548, Restoration of firearms rights; report to State Police., Passed House, referred to Senate Courts of Justice, Reported 14 to 0.
