Herring instructed the Department of Criminal Justice Services that it cannot register teachers as special conservators of the peace (SCOPS) for the purposes of arming them on school grounds.I had the opportunity to discuss this with NRATV's Cam Edwards yesterday.
“Virginia law expressly limits who may possess firearms on school grounds for safety purposes, and the General Assembly declined to enact bills presented every year from 2013 through 2017 to extend this authority to school teachers and administrators,” Herring concluded.

Attorney General Herring Tells Lee County Can't Use Armed Staff To Protect Students
