Vice President Joe Biden “guaranteed” Mayor Thomas M. Menino — a leading national gun control advocate — that President Obama will pass sweeping firearms reforms by the end of the month, the mayor said today.Considering Congress is basically out of town until after inauguration day, nothing is getting through Congress and to Obama's desk by January 31. So, as Weazel Zippers wrote yesterday:
No way Obama’s ramming through major legislation by the end of the month, which leaves only one other option, executive orders.If you thought we had a firewall in the House of Representatives, you should think again. As he did with illegal immigration yesterday, Obama is going to go as far as he thinks he can with Executive Orders.
