Virginia Tech Approves New Regulation Banning Concealed Carry in Buildings and Major Events
Yesterday, Virginia Tech's Board of Visitors new regulation that bans firearms in buildings and at major events such as football games. The regulation replaces an existing policy, and applies to firearms carried both by concealed permit holders and non-permit-holders. In July, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli said July that universities didn't have the authority to ban people from bringing firearms into school facilities by "policy" but could pass a regulation, which carries the force of law. Tech is the latest of Virginia's public colleges and universities to pass such a regulation after Cuccinelli's opinion.
