Larger numbers of gun owners turned out to help Bolling and Cuccinelli witn their contests for Lt. Gov. and Attorney General at the Virginia Republican Convention today. I was trouble shooting registration for the Bolling campaign this morning and scores of supporters for State Senator Ken Cuccinelli streamed through the doors by the literal bus loads.
A lesson is in this for the Republican Party, or at least for those who say the party needs to rebrand it self to "broaden its tent." While it was widely believed the AG race would be close and go to at least two ballots, the candidate who's prefiled delegates showed up to the convention were those who belived in the core conservative values of limited government, the value of life, and the right to keep and bear arms. Ditching those core values to "reach out to moderates" will spell doom for the party. What they need to do is sell those values to the so-called moderates.
