At the same time Governor Timothy Kaine's Virginia Tech Incident Panal announced it would have a closed meeting on Monday August 20, to review the panel's draft report, the Staunton, VA newspaper, The News Leader, publishes an editorial advocating the position of continuing the practice of allowing colleges and universities to decide for themselves whether to let students carry concealed handguns on campus.
They use the same tired rhetoric about how allowing more firearms on campus in the alcohol infested community would be more dangerous and likely lead to more deaths. Sounds to me like they need to deal with the drinking problem. The International Association of College Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) has said on more than one occassion that 1600 students die every year - that's right - every year, from "dangerous alcohol consumption." You tell me, what is more a danger to your kid on a college campus?
